Job Title: Assistant Nursery Manager
Role Overview
We are seeking an inspirational and driven Assistant Nursery Manager to join our leadership team. You will be responsible for supporting the Manager in overseeing the daily operations within the setting while stepping into full leadership of the nursery in the Manager’s absence.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for the nursery and lead the team in the absence of the Nursery Manager. This will include being the lead person in charge at the setting from 4pm - 6pm each day and closing the nursery at the end of the day.
- Spend time in each of the rooms at the nursery in ratio supporting and modelling good practice.
- Support the SENDCO with observations, delivering and implementing support where needed, liaising with parents and completing administration tasks.
- Act as a lead for safeguarding and child protection, ensuring all staff adhere to statutory frameworks and nursery policies and be confident to manage safeguarding concerns in the absence of the Nursery Manager.
- To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Nursery Manager or Directors to ensure the smooth, safe, and successful daily operation of the setting.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare or equivalent.
- Experience: Experience in a senior practitioner or room leader role within a nursery setting is essential. Previous experience in a Deputy or Assistant Management role is desirable.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of the EYFS, Development Matters and Ofsted inspection frameworks.
- Safeguarding: Designated safeguarding lead experience is preferential but not essential.
- SEND: Specific training or experience in SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) is desirable.
Working Hours & Shift Patterns
- Contract: Full-time, Permanent.
- Hours: 40 hours per week, worked Monday to Friday.
- Shifts: Shifts are scheduled between the nursery opening hours of 7:30am and 6pm.
