Were expanding our team at our Thanet Branch and are looking for a dependable Van Driver / Relief HGV Driver / Yard Operative to help us continue delivering excellent service to our trade and retail customers.
The Role
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Van Driver /Relief HGV Driver / Yard Operative to join our busy builders merchants team at Chandlers Building Supplies Thanet. This role is primarily focused on van deliveries, with additional yard duties and relief HGV Class 2 driving when required.
Responsibilities and Duties

- Carry out deliveries using a company van (approx. 90% of the role)
- Provide relief cover as an HGV Class 2 driver (26T) during holidays and sickness (approx. 12 weeks per year)
- Ensure all deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on time
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects
- Load, secure, and unload materials in line with safety standards
- Yard Duties
- Assist in the yard with loading and unloading vehicles
- Maintain stock organisation and yard cleanliness
- Support general yard operations during quieter periods
Qualifications and Attributes
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
- HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
- CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
- Flexible and willing to provide relief HGV driving cover
- Strong team player with a positive attitude
- Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial
The Hours
Week 1: Monday - Friday 07:30-17:00
Week 2: Monday - Friday 07:30 - 17:00 & Saturday 08:00 -12:00
