VETERINARY CLINIC RECEPTIONIST - EXPERIENCED
At Abbeywell Vets, we pride ourselves on offering exceptional care for pets and their owners, delivered by a dedicated and friendly team. We are looking for an Experienced Veterinary Clinic Receptionist to join our team at our practice in Folkestone.
This is an important client-facing role, as you’ll often be the first person our clients meet, setting the tone for the care and compassion they can expect throughout their visit. We are looking for someone with full veterinary reception experience, outstanding communication skills, a professional yet welcoming manner, and the ability to remain calm and supportive even when things get busy.
We work closely as a team to ensure both our patients and clients receive the best possible experience, so being a team player is essential. Equally, you should feel confident managing your workload independently and staying organised under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a warm and friendly welcome to clients and their pets.
- Answer telephone calls, handle enquiries and schedule appointments.
- Manage the diary and assist with patient admissions and treatment plans.
- Process payments and handle billing queries with professionalism and discretion.
- Keep accurate records and update client and patient information.
- Support the veterinary team with administrative tasks as required.
- Ensure the reception area is always tidy, stocked, and welcoming.
- Responsible for reconciling end of day cash & credit card payments
- Diligently dispense medications prepared by the clinical team.
- Offer information on products and services available at the practice.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience as a veterinary clinic receptionist is essential for this role.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational ability and confidence working under pressure.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and veterinary practice management systems.
- A compassionate, empathetic attitude towards pets and their owners.
- A positive, adaptable approach and willingness to support the wider team
- Lives within a 30-35 minute commute from the surgery.
The Offer
- Competitive Salary: £22,000.00 pa (£13.22ph)
- 3 weekdays per week (approximately 10 hours per shift)
- 1 Saturday morning every 4 weeks (working 5 hours per shift)

If you are currently working as a veterinary receptionist or if you have worked as a veterinary receptionist within the last 12 months; you have a minimum of one years experience working in a veterinary clinic as a receptionist; you have an understanding of veterinary conditions and the ability to recognise if a pet needs to be treated immediately; you are confident handling veterinary medicines; you are able to provide pet owners with basic advice in relation to their veterinary enquiries; you are someone who thrives in a busy, people-focused role and would like to join our team, then we’d love to hear from you.
