Working Hours: 37 hours per week, 35 weeks per year (Term-Time Only)
Salary: £26,661 (Actual Salary £22,190.65)
As our Maths & English Success Mentor, you will coordinate and support learners within Maths and English across our Institute for Study Programme Maths & English, working closely with the Maths, English and vocational teams to provide regular opportunities for learners to improve their communication and problem-solving skills. You will positively drive strategy to break down barriers to enable learners to make positive grade progress.
The post holder will actively promote the Institute of Study Programme Maths & English and celebrate achievements across Hull College to encourage and maximise attendance and engagement for all Maths & English learners.

Responsibilities of our Maths & English Success Mentor:
- Arrange and lead small support sessions to engage learners in their maths and English studies.
- Provide one to one bespoke support sessions.
- Arrange and lead catch-up sessions to ensure learners do not fall behind in their learning.
- Lead inductions for learners throughout the year when necessary
- Facilitate cover sessions with learners when required.
- Support screening for SEND and exam access arrangements.
- Use a range of technology and online learning resources to challenge and engagement of learners of all abilities.
What we’re looking for in our Maths & English Success Mentor:
- Minimum Level 2 in Maths & English
- Qualification in Supporting Students or a willingness to work towards
- Previous experience of successfully supporting learning in an educational environment
- Ability to provide effective, flexible and inspiring English and study skills support
- Ability to effectively manage behaviour and support and encourage learners to engage in math and English
- Experience and a passion for planning and driving learning initiatives
Desirable:
- Degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant area
- Up to date knowledge of Awarding body requirements and expectations for English GCSE and FS qualifications.
- Experience of working within Secondary/Further Education
- Experience of Ofsted Education Inspection Framework
