Pocklington Area - Pig Stockperson / General Farm Worker
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Pig Stockperson / General Farm Worker to join our dynamic farm team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for caring for pigs, maintaining farm facilities, and supporting daily farm operations. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help ensure the health and well-being of the animals while keeping the farm running smoothly. This position offers an engaging environment where physical activity and animal care are at the forefront of your daily tasks.
Hours
- 45 hours per week (average)
- Working every other weekend
- Immediate start available for the right candidate
Responsibilities
- Daily care and management of contract rearing pigs, ensuring high standards of animal welfare.
- Feeding, health checks and general pig husbandry.
- Cleaning and maintaining pig housing and equipment.
- Carrying out general farm duties, including maintenance and yard work.
- Occasional work with cattle, including routine livestock care and handling.
- Maintaining high standards of biosecurity, cleanliness and health and safety across the farm.
Experience
- Previous experience working with pigs or other livestock is an advantage but not essential, as full training can be provided for a motivated individual.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to high standards of animal welfare.
- A practical approach to work and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- A forklift licence is preferred but not essential.
- A full UK driving licence is essential.
