Full job description

Workshop Foreman/Team Leader

Main Purpose of the Job Role-

The Workshop Foreman will be responsible for supporting the Production Manager Responsible for the day-to-day management of the workshop, ensuring that work is carried out safely, efficiently and to the required quality standard.

A core part of the role is the accurate and consistent use of ‘Monday’ to track jobs through production, update progress, record issues and support planning. Ensuring information in ‘Monday’ is kept up to date either through direct input or through the workshop team is essential for effective workflow and communication across the board.

The main part of the job is to process work through the listing below. Work undertaken, including administrative processes, will be in line with the Business Management System (BMS), which in turn will satisfy the needs of ISO 9001 and other standards as necessary. Through the BMS control of nonconformity processes, the Workshop Foreman will be responsible, with others as required, for the appropriate corrective and preventive actions to prevent nonconformity.

Each person in the business has a statutory duty for health, safety and welfare and as such will be responsible for themselves and all others including visitors to the business.

Specific responsibilities (but not exhaustive) in relation to the business management system include:

Responsibilities-

In conjunction with the Operations Director and Production Manager, plan and organise the work/priorities.
Plan and allocate work to the workshop team based on skills, priorities, and deadlines.
Approval of holidays.
Approval of overtime.
Act as the main point of contact between the workshop, office, and management.
Monitor productivity and take action to prevent delays or bottlenecks.
Review, support, train, and supervise workshop operatives.
Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available, used correctly, and maintained.
Keep the workshop clean, organised, and efficient.
Identify and suggest continuous improvement opportunities in workflow, layout, or processes.
Oversee materials and component stock goods in and out, notify office of any stock required in a timely manner.
Ensure Safety/PPE workwear is available and rules are enforced.
Provide feedback to Operations Director and Production Manager as required on the progress or any obstacles for particular jobs.
Ensure waste is managed in a sustainable manner.
Ensure Health and safety protocols are followed.
Maintain ongoing quality by working to and improving processes and standard operating procedures.

Use the Monday system to:

- Manage staff and production workload

- Track jobs through production

- Update progress and statuses accurately

- Record issues, delays, or changes

- Support planning, job costing, and delivery commitment
