We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in food preparation and cooking, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety are maintained. Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes in accordance with recipes and standards
- Support senior chefs with food production, ensuring timely delivery of dishes during service periods
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with food safety regulations
- Ensure all ingredients are stored correctly and stock levels are monitored
- Contribute to the presentation of dishes, ensuring they meet visual standards
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently, including proper handling of equipment and ingredients
- Support team members during busy service times, fostering a collaborative working environment
- Assist in training junior staff or trainees when required, demonstrating leadership qualities
Requirements
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen, restaurant or hospitality setting is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards
- Supervising experience or team management skills are advantageous
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Passion for culinary arts with a keen interest in developing further skills within the hospitality industry
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends and evenings if necessary
