Project Engineer – Career Progression to Project Manager Electrical / Water Industry | Bridgwater | Hybrid Working
Are you an experienced Electrical Supervisor or electrically biased Engineer with water industry experience, looking for the next step in your career?
Are you ready to move beyond site-based engineering and develop your skills in project management, with a clear pathway towards becoming a Project Manager?
If so, we'd love to hear from you.
About the opportunity
BW C has been established for over 35 years, originally specialising in the manufacture of Motor Control Centres (MCCs). Today, we are a growing team of 30+ employees, delivering MCC manufacture, MEICA installation and commissioning projects across the water, food and mining industries.
We are now looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our site installations team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer or supervisor who wants to take their first step into project management.
You don't need to be an experienced Project Manager already — we will provide the training, support and development needed to help you progress.
Your career progression
Our aim is to develop the successful candidate into a Project Manager.
You'll initially work alongside our experienced project and engineering team, gaining hands-on experience across all aspects of project delivery. As your experience and confidence grow, you'll gradually take on increased responsibility for managing projects, clients, contractors, costs, programmes and delivery.
This role offers a genuine career pathway:
Electrical Engineer / Supervisor → Project Engineer → Project Manager
You'll have the opportunity to develop both your technical and commercial skills while working on exciting MEICA projects within the water industry.
What you'll be doing
As a Project Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Procuring materials and coordinating suppliers
- Preparing and reviewing Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS)
- Coordinating site installation teams and subcontractors
- Planning and monitoring site activities
- Attending client and site progress meetings
- Carrying out quality checks and ensuring project standards are maintained
- Supporting project health & safety requirements
- Ensuring compliance with internal and client procedures
- Providing technical support and solving engineering problems
- Coordinating testing, commissioning and project completion
- Compiling and managing project completion/handover packs
- Working closely with the Project Manager to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to the required standard
As you develop, you'll progressively take ownership of larger elements of projects, preparing you for full Project Manager responsibility.
