Consultants in Emergency Medicine
Full time or Part time (10 PA, including up to 2 SPA)
Salary Scale - £111,430 - £148,064 per annum pro rata

Looking for a new and exciting challenge? Then think about working in NHS Forth Valley in the heart of Scotland.

NHS Forth Valley seeks to appoint enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join the emergency medicine team. The new appointments will join the existing permanent medical staff team of 15 Emergency Medicine Consultants, 3 Emergency Medical Practitioners and 5 Specialty Doctors, providing senior clinical decision making and leadership to Forth Valley’s Emergency Department.

It is expected that the successful applicant will have a high clinical profile with the drive and initiative to achieve and sustain the highest standards of emergency medical care. The new appointment will participate in the on-site out of hours rota as part of normal job planned activity and will share with the existing Consultants, the supervision and shop-floor training of junior medical and nursing staff. Consultant support (remotely) is also provided to a nurse-led Minor Injuries Unit at Stirling Community Hospital.

NHS Forth Valley is undergoing a period of dynamic change in relation to the organisation of acute unscheduled care. This is part of a wider improvement plan which incorporates a new Flow Navigation Hub (FNH) and Urgent Care Centre (UCC) in line with Scottish Government directed service improvement changes and same-day emergency care. There may be opportunities for the interested candidate to have job-planned sessions within this new service if interested.

Our hospital is situated in the heart of Scotland, nestled against the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, and close to vibrant towns that are richly endowed with excellent cultural and sporting facilities, offering good transport links to Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Applicants should have full GMC registration and a license to practice. Applicants must be within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT at the time of interview. Applicants applying under the Portfolio pathway must be entered onto the GMC Specialist Register at time of application. Applicants are required to have evidence of recent continued academic and professional development. Excellent communication, listening and organizational skills are essential.
