Full job description

The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse (Mental Health or Adult) with current UK NMC registration and will hold a recognised Non-Medical Prescriber qualification (V300 or equivalent). They will be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience, with clear evidence of ongoing professional development. A relevant postgraduate qualification and/or leadership training would be advantageous.

Applicants will have significant post-registration experience within mental health and/or substance use services, including working with individuals experiencing acute and complex presentations. They will demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise in assessment, risk management, and the formulation of person-centred care plans, ideally within community settings. Experience of multidisciplinary and multi-agency working is essential, alongside a proven ability to work collaboratively across professional boundaries to deliver integrated care. Experience of supporting, supervising, or mentoring staff is also required.

The post holder will possess highly developed clinical assessment skills, including the ability to provide differential diagnoses and develop evidence-based treatment plans. A strong understanding of mental health, substance use, and recovery-focused approaches is essential, together with a sound knowledge of prescribing practice, clinical governance, and relevant legislation. Excellente communication and interpersonal skills are required, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals, families, carers, and colleagues across services.

The role requires strong leadership capability, with the ability to contribute to service improvement, support the development of advanced nursing practice, and assist in the supervision of Non-Medical Prescribers. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective organisational skills, sound clinical judgement, and the ability to prioritise and manage a complex workload in a dynamic environment. Experience of contributing to education and training programmes would be beneficial.

The individual will demonstrate a compassionate, person-centred approach, with resilience and the ability to respond effectively to complex and challenging situations.

A commitment to continuous professional development and to improving outcomes and experiences for individuals accessing services is essential.

The ability to travel across Perth and Kinross is required in order to meet the needs of the service.
