This will be a fixed term post for a 12 month period.

With an extensive knowledge of Cellular Pathology Services, you must be forward thinking and able to demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills. You will be accountable for leading the histopathology section of the Pathology Department providing a source of expert advice and represent the Laboratory at an organisational level where necessary

A proven leader you will have an extensive knowledge of cellular pathology, and experience of histology and immunocytochemistry at a specialist level is essential.
This post will require applications from those holding an IBMS Accredited Honours Degree in Biomedical Science, be HCPC registered as a Biomedical Scientist, and have an IBMS post-registration Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology or equivalent.
They will also have an IBMS accredited MSc in Biomedical Science (or equivalent).
Excellent management skills are essential with a relevant qualification being desirable.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate current continuing professional development.
You must also be able to demonstrate a good understanding of clinical governance, risk management and audit.
The post holder will work with and support the Clinical Laboratory Manager in the development of the histopathology service.
We are a progressive department within a teaching hospital and see an annual workload of approx 50,000 surgical pathology specimens on which we carry out 180,000 procedures.
The base for this post is at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.
The Department is a UKAS accredited medical laboratory No. 8682, and has IBMS Training Approval Status for pre and post registration training.
Current NHS Tayside Employee’s - Written approval must be sought from your line manager prior to applying for this secondment. You will be required to bring this if shortlisted for interview.
Hours of work are: 36 hours per week
