Job Title: Technical Officer (Care & Repair) (Fixed Term)

Location: Hybrid Working (offices based in Dundee & Perth)

Contract: 3 year Fixed Term Contract (until April 2029)

Hours: 17.5 hours per week (over 3 days between Mon-Fri)

Salary: £39,190 - £46,009 (Pro Rata - £19,595 - £23,004 per annum) + Car Allowance

About the role

Following the award of funding for a three-year period, we now have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Officer (Care & Repair) to join our team on a part-time, fixed-term basis.

Our Care & Repair service operates across Perth & Kinross, and Angus Council Areas, with this role predominantly focused on delivery within the Angus area. We enable older and disabled people to remain independent in their own homes by providing practical support, technical expertise, and advice. This includes delivering:

A design service mainly for bathroom adaptations based on Occupational Therapy recommendations.
General housing advice on repairs, contractor selection & availability
Signposting to external agencies for specialised services.
Assisting clients in the completion of grant funding applications to Local Authorities & charities.

You will play a key role in ensuring clients can live safely, comfortably, and with dignity.

Key responsibilities

Prepare technical information, drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
Provide clear and practical advice to clients, enabling informed decisions about repairs and adaptations
Monitor building works to ensure quality, compliance, and value for money
Work closely with contractors, local authorities, and partners to deliver effective services
Ensure all work meets service standards and regulatory requirements
Take a proactive, customer-focused approach to resolving issues
Contribute to continuous service improvement

What you will bring

Essential

Experience of technical repair and maintenance within a housing association, local authority, or similar environment
Strong knowledge of building repairs, maintenance, and adaptations
Excellent communication skills with a strong customer focus
Ability to manage workload independently and problem-solve effectively

Desirable but not essential

HNC/HND (or equivalent) in a relevant building or technical discipline
Experience of using CAD, although training will be given.
Ability to produce technical drawings and tender documents.

Previous experience working with a Care & Repair services or similar, knowledge of adaptations for older or disabled people, and an understanding of public sector procurement or tendering processes would be advantageous.

A full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle is essential. Please note PVG Scheme membership (or willingness to obtain) is a requirement for this role.
