Overview
We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Yard Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with materials handling, loading and unloading goods, and maintaining a safe and organised yard environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with warehouse experience or mechanical knowledge to develop their skills within a dynamic setting. The Yard Worker will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of our logistics and storage activities.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment, including forklifts
- Assist with shipping and receiving operations to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of goods
- Handle materials safely, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Operate warehouse management systems to track inventory movements
- Conduct routine inspections of yard equipment and report any maintenance issues
- Support with general yard organisation, including stacking, sorting, and cleaning
- Assist with construction-related tasks as needed, demonstrating mechanical aptitude
- Perform heavy lifting tasks safely and efficiently during daily operations
- Maintain accurate records of materials handled and stored
- Follow all safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment
Qualifications
- Previous warehouse experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Valid forklift licence is highly desirable
- Mechanical knowledge or experience in construction is advantageous
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems is beneficial
- Ability to handle heavy lifting safely and effectively
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks throughout the shift
- Strong commitment to safety standards and procedures
