About the Role

As a Relief Shift Manager in Liquid Processing, you will report to the Liquid Processing Production Manager and support the day-to-day operational management of the department.

You will lead a small team across key operations including milk intake, liquid despatch, evaporation, water processing, and stock control, with overall site responsibility outside normal management hours.

Key Responsibilities

Support and oversee liquid processing operations, ensuring safe and efficient performance across all shifts
Coordinate daily activities including intake, dispatch, evaporation, and water processing to meet operational targets
Lead, develop, and manage team performance, attendance, and communication
Provide regular production updates, highlighting KPIs, trends, and improvement opportunities
Ensure products meet quality, hygiene, and food safety standards
Apply lean principles, problem-solving, and root cause analysis to drive continuous improvement
Maintain accurate stock control, minimise waste, and improve yield
Build strong working relationships with production, engineering, quality teams, and contractors
Promote health & safety compliance and support a strong safety culture

About the Person

Essential Criteria:

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Experience in process control or plant operations
Knowledge of health and safety practices
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Strong organisational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Desirable Criteria:

Degree in a science or Food Technology discipline
Experience in lean manufacturing or process improvement
At least 12 months’ experience in a supervisory or team leader role
