About the Role
We're looking for an ambitious, commercially minded Assistant Project Manager to join TMG Contracts.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a background in Quantity Surveying, estimating, commercial management or construction, who's ready to take the next step into a broader project and operational management role.
You'll bring a strong understanding of costs, quotations, contracts and commercial performance, while developing experience across the full project lifecycle — from initial enquiry and planning through to delivery, completion and client handover.
This is not simply a QS role. We want someone who wants to get involved in how our projects are actually delivered, and who'll take on increasing responsibility for managing projects, people, clients and operations as TMG grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing residential build and fitout projects from enquiry through to completion
- Work closely with the estimating and commercial teams for a smooth handover from tender to delivery
- Support project planning, programming and resource allocation
- Monitor project costs, budgets, variations and financial performance
- Assist with procurement of materials, subcontractors and services
- Coordinate with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams
- Track progress, identifying potential delays, issues and commercial risks
- Attend site/project meetings and report on progress, costs and programme
- Assist with project documentation, orders, contracts and variations
- Support the Project Manager with day-to-day problem solving
- Help ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required standard
- Take on increasing ownership as your experience develops
About You
You might currently be working as a Quantity Surveyor, Assistant QS, Estimator, Junior Estimator, Commercial Assistant, Contracts Assistant, or Project Coordinator. Previous PM experience isn't essential — attitude, commercial understanding and drive matter more.
You are:
- Commercially aware and comfortable with costs and budgets
- Organised, able to juggle multiple priorities
- Confident communicating with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
- A problem solver who takes ownership
- Comfortable with numbers, spreadsheets and project information
- Ambitious, keen to progress into project and operations management
- Practical and willing to get into the detail on site
