This is an exciting opportunity to lead a critical service at the heart of Adult Social Care, helping to ensure people receive the right financial support while contributing to the long-term sustainability of services across Somerset.

You'll play a key role in driving service transformation, improving processes, implementing modern ways of working, and leading initiatives that enhance both customer experience and operational performance.

Role Summary

As our ASC Operations Finance Lead, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for Adult Social Care financial operations, overseeing the Financial Assessment and Benefits (FAB) Team and the Transactional Team. Working closely with senior leaders, you will ensure services are efficient, compliant, customer-focused, and deliver positive outcomes for residents and the Council.

What you'll do – Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop the Financial Assessment and Benefits (FAB) Team and Transactional Team, creating a high-performing and inclusive culture.
Drive service improvement, transformation, and the implementation of modern systems and processes.
Provide expert financial and operational advice to senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
Ensure services comply with legislation, governance requirements, and financial controls.
Manage performance, budgets, income generation, and service delivery to support organisational priorities.

What we're looking for – Knowledge, Experience, and Skills

Significant senior leadership experience managing multiple teams and services within a complex operational environment.
Experience leading large teams, managing change, and driving service improvements.
Strong understanding of financial operations, performance management, and stakeholder engagement.
Knowledge of Adult Social Care finance, client charging, welfare benefits, income collection, or related services.
Excellent communication, analytical, decision-making, and people leadership skills.

About the Team

The ASC Finance Operations team is at the heart of supporting Adult Social Care across Somerset, helping to ensure residents receive the right financial support and services. You'll join a collaborative and experienced team that works closely with colleagues across Finance and Adult Social Care, with a shared focus on delivering excellent outcomes, continuous improvement and high-quality customer service. We offer a flexible and supportive working environment that values teamwork, wellbeing and professional development.

Additional Information

Permanent, full-time role (37 hours per week).
33 days' annual leave, plus Bank Holidays (pro rata for part-time employees).
Flexible and hybrid working arrangements to support a healthy work-life balance.
