Tree Surgeon / Future Team Leader – Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Tree Surgeon / Arborist to join our growing team. The role will initially start as an operator, working within a 2 to 3 man team, with the opportunity to progress into a Team Leader position once familiar with our company standards, systems, and way of working.

The successful candidate will be involved in a range of domestic and commercial tree surgery works, supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality job completion on site.

Key Responsibilities

Work as part of a 2 to 3 man tree surgery team
Carry out tree surgery works including pruning, reductions, dismantling, felling, hedge cutting, and site clearance
Operate chainsaws, climbing equipment, woodchippers, and other arboricultural machinery safely
Follow site instructions, risk assessments, method statements, and health and safety procedures
Support the team leader with daily site tasks and customer communication
Maintain a tidy, safe, and professional work site
Carry out equipment checks and report any defects or issues
Progress towards leading and supervising small teams on site
Once promoted, take responsibility for organising daily work, allocating tasks, and ensuring jobs are completed safely and efficiently

Essential Requirements

Previous experience as a tree surgeon/arborist or skilled operator
Relevant chainsaw and climbing qualifications
Ability to work well within a small team
Good understanding of site safety and safe working practices
Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
Confident communication skills
Full clean driving licence
Willingness to develop into a team leader role

Desirable Requirements

NPTC/LANTRA qualifications
Aerial rescue, climbing, rigging, and chainsaw tickets
Woodchipper certification
First Aid qualification
Trailer licence or towing experience
Previous experience supervising or leading a small team
