Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Underwriter to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing risk and determining the terms of insurance policies, ensuring alignment with company standards and regulatory requirements. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong judgement skills and a keen eye for detail to contribute to our organisation’s success. Duties

Evaluate insurance applications by analysing relevant financial, personal, and business information
Assess risk factors associated with potential clients and determine appropriate policy terms and conditions
Review and interpret underwriting guidelines, policies, and regulatory standards to ensure compliance
Collaborate with brokers, agents, and other stakeholders to gather additional information or clarify application details
Prepare detailed reports summarising risk assessments and underwriting decisions
Maintain accurate records of all underwriting activities within the organisation’s systems
Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and changes in legislation that may impact underwriting practices
Assist in the development of new underwriting policies or procedures to improve efficiency and risk management

Qualifications

Proven experience in underwriting or a related role within the insurance sector is preferred
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data accurately
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with team members and external partners
Familiarity with underwriting software and Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in insurance underwriting
A qualification such as the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) certification or equivalent is advantageous but not essential
Ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively within a team environment
