Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Recycling Yard Foreman to lead daily operations at our recycling facility in Kettering, Northamptonshire. In this energetic role, you will oversee the efficient sorting, processing, and management of recyclable materials while ensuring safety, productivity, and environmental compliance. As a key leader on-site, you will coordinate team activities, enforce safety protocols, and maintain high standards of operational excellence to support our sustainability goals.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily activities within the recycling yard, including material sorting, loading, and unloading processes
- Lead and motivate a team of workers to meet production targets while maintaining safety standards
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and yard conditions to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards
- Ensure proper handling of recyclable materials with an emphasis on mechanical processes and heavy lifting techniques
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure all team members adhere to health & safety regulations and company policies
- Coordinate with logistics teams to schedule material flow efficiently
Requirements
- Mechanical knowledge to understand equipment operation, troubleshooting, and basic repairs
- Experience operating 360 excavators and front end loaders
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently as part of daily tasks
- Proven leadership skills with experience supervising teams in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to heavy machinery and material handling
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and management
