Junior Marketing Assistant (Copywriting & Email Marketing) — with Front of House Duties
Edinburgh Honey Co. Location: Edinburgh (shop-based, with hybrid office/marketing time) Job Type: Full-time Reports to: Marketing & Growth Lead
About Us
Edinburgh Honey Co. is a premium Scottish artisan honey brand, producing raw and infused honey from our own apiaries across East Lothian, West Lothian, and the Pentlands. We run three Edinburgh retail shops (Easter Road, Morningside, and our newest site in Canonmills), an online store at miod.co, and a growing wholesale business. We're a small, hands-on team that cares about quality, storytelling, and the people who buy from us.
The Role
We're looking for a Junior Marketing Assistant to join our growing marketing team. This is a hybrid role: part of your week will be spent writing — product copy, email campaigns, social captions, and website content — and part of your week will be spent on the shop floor, giving you first-hand contact with customers and a genuine feel for the brand you're writing about. It's an ideal opportunity for someone who loves words, is curious about small-business marketing, and doesn't mind rolling up their sleeves in a retail setting.
Key ResponsibilitiesCopywriting
- Write clear, engaging copy for product listings, packaging, in-store signage, and our website
- Draft social media captions and blog content in line with our brand voice
- Support seasonal campaign copy (e.g. hay fever season, Father's Day, Christmas gifting)
- Proofread and edit marketing materials for tone, clarity, and accuracy
Email Marketing
- Build, schedule, and send email campaigns and newsletters (e.g. via Mailchimp/Klaviyo or similar)
- Write subject lines, body copy, and calls-to-action that drive opens, clicks, and sales
- Segment and maintain our customer email lists
- Track and report on campaign performance (open rates, click-through rates, conversions), and suggest improvements
- Support automated email flows (welcome series, abandoned cart, post-purchase)
Front of House
- Work regular shifts across our Edinburgh shops (Easter Road, Morningside, and Canonmills), serving customers and running the till
- Talk to customers about our honey, apiaries, and story — direct customer insight that feeds back into your marketing copy
- Support in-store merchandising, tastings, and events
- Help keep shops presentable and well-stocked
About You
- Strong written English with excellent attention to detail
- A genuine interest in copywriting, email marketing, or brand storytelling
- Comfortable talking to customers face-to-face — friendly, personable, and reliable
- Organised, able to juggle writing deadlines with shop shifts
- Some experience with email marketing tools (Mailchimp, Klaviyo, or similar) is a plus, but not essential — we'll train the right person
- Interest in food, drink, or artisan/small-batch brands is a bonus
- Previous retail or customer-facing experience is helpful but not required
What We Offer
- On-the-job training in copywriting and email marketing from our marketing leads
- A varied role that mixes creative work with real customer contact
- The chance to grow with a small, ambitious Scottish brand
- Staff discount on Edinburgh Honey Co. products
- [Salary/benefits — to be confirmed]
