Job Overview

An opportunity has arisen at Shires Health Care to join our busy administration team. The successful candidate will be accountable for typing and managing electronic referrals, maintaining secure communications via NHS email, and liaising professionally with external agencies, hospitals, and community services on matters relating to patient information and referrals.

This position demands consistently high levels of accuracy and outstanding telephone communication abilities. Applicants must be able to prioritise and coordinate tasks efficiently within a fast-paced environment. Prior experience with SystmOne and the Electronic Referral Service (ERS) will be considered advantageous, as will familiarity with medical terminology; however training will be offered to the most suitable candidate as required.

The role comprises 22 working hours per week, allocated as follows: Monday from 09:00 to 15:00; Thursday from 08:30 to 17:30 (including a one-hour lunch break); and Friday from 09:00 to 18:00 (including a one-hour lunch break).

Job Description & Person Specification

Main duties and responsibilities:-

- Typing and processing of hospital referrals using the electronic referral service.

- Sending referrals securely via NHS email.

- Liaise with external agencies, hospitals, and community services regarding patient referrals and information requests.

- Dealing with patient enquiries both by telephone and in person, professionally and confidentially.

- Discretion and understanding of confidentiality and data protection legislation.

- Maintain and update patient records accurately and confidentially in line with GDPR and NHS guidelines,

Person specification

- The ability to prioritise your daily workload to ensure all tasks are completed promptly

- Ensure confidentiality and data protection policies are always strictly adhered to.

- Strong communications skills, both written and verbal, with a professional telephone manner.

- Be able to work as part of a team.

Benefits :

- 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holiday (pro rata if less than full time).
