SEN Nanny / Support Worker (ASD, ADHD, Anxiety Support)

We are a warm and supportive family based in Bromley looking for an experienced, calm and emotionally intelligent individual to support our 10-year-old daughter.

This is not a typical babysitting role. Our daughter has additional needs including ASD, ADHD and anxiety, and we are looking for someone who understands (or is willing to learn) how to support a child who can become overwhelmed and dysregulated at times.

The Role:

After school care and occasional weekend support
School pick-ups (local)
Taking her to activities, outings, and helping her engage with the world in a safe and supported way
Supporting emotional regulation and transitions
Creating a calm, predictable, and safe environment
Working alongside parents using consistent strategies

About Our Daughter:
She is bright, funny, and engaging, but can experience anxiety, sensory overwhelm, and a strong need for control. She responds best to calm, patient, low-demand approaches and adults who can build trust and connection.

At times, when overwhelmed or anxious, our daughter can become dysregulated and this may occasionally present as physical behaviour (e.g. grabbing, pushing, or lashing out). This is not frequent, but it is important that the right person feels confident, calm, and non-reactive in these moments.

We are looking for someone who understands that this is a form of communication rather than “naughty” behaviour, and who can respond using low-arousal, supportive approaches to help her feel safe and regain control. We will guide and support you with strategies that work well.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

Has experience with children with ASD, ADHD, PDA profile, or similar needs
Is calm, patient, and emotionally regulated themselves
Understands (or is open to learning) co-regulation and low-demand approaches
Can confidently manage challenging behaviour without escalation
Is reliable, consistent, and able to build a trusting relationship
Is proactive and enjoys engaging children in activities

Desirable (but not essential):

Background in SEN education, therapy, psychology, or support work
Experience with anxiety, trauma-informed approaches, or behavioural support strategies

Hours & Pay:

Flexible part-time hours (to be agreed)
Typically after school and some weekends
£20 per hour depending on experience

Additional Information:
We will provide guidance and share strategies that work well for our daughter. This is a collaborative role where the right person will become an important and valued part of our support system.
