Are you a Registered Nurse, looking for a unique role that’s professionally stretching, emotionally meaningful and genuinely rewarding? Whether you're already working in the community or looking to bring your transferable skills into children's community palliative care, we'd love to hear from you. As part of the care team at Derian House Children’s Hospice, you’ll be part of something truly special — helping ensure no child or family faces life’s hardest moments alone.

We care for babies, children and young people with life‑limiting conditions from across the Northwest, supporting families to make the most of every precious moment. While end of life care is a core part of what we do, many of our children and young people are supported by Derian House for many years before this, and that time is used to provide fun, comfort and lasting memories for the whole family. Our team is small, skilled and deeply committed, and you’ll play a vital part in delivering exceptional care, predominately out in the community; under-taking respite visits, supporting symptom management and memory-making amongst many other tasks, but also working in-house in our hospice in Chorley.

It is key that you know if you apply for this role you will most of the time likely to be working autonomously, supported by a multi-disciplinary team to make decisions to best support families. As this is a role where you will be supporting families outside of the hospice, there will be many occasions where you are working alone, and need to be comfortable with this, with our systems and processes in place to make sure you are safe.

As our service grows and our 3–5 year plan takes shape we’re creating new opportunities for nurses who want to develop and thrive. We are investing more in community and rotational roles that work across our in‑hospice and community services, giving you the chance to build breadth of experience in a genuinely varied role. We invest in our people, offering access to an in‑house clinical education team, a dedicated clinical skills lab, and ongoing professional development tailored to your aspirations. We also welcome applications from nurses with non‑traditional routes into practice, including those with learning disability qualifications and those from non‑paediatric backgrounds who have the right transferable experience.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full-time). Weekend, nights and evening work will be required. Part-time hours will also be considered.

Location: Derian House Children’s Hospice, Chancery Road, Chorley, PR7 1DH.

Selection and Assessment process: Depending on the volume of applications there may be an initial preliminary 20-minute discussion, held virtually (MS Teams), to help sift candidates we wish to progress. The formal process for those invited, will be an onsite face to face assessment and interview
