Overview

PR & Social Media Marketing Manager (Freelance)

Help tell the story of Cambridge’s most iconic hot dog barrow!

The Hot Sausage Company is celebrating 40 years of serving Cambridge and we’re looking for an enthusiastic, creative freelance PR & Social Media Marketing Manager to help bring our biggest-ever celebration to life.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves creating engaging social media content, enjoys meeting people and wants to build an exciting portfolio while working with one of Cambridge’s best-known independent businesses.

Contract

Self-employed freelance position
Approximately 14 hours per week
Fixed 2-month campaign (August–September 2026)
Potential for ongoing work after the campaign for the right candidate

What you’ll be doing

Capturing photos and videos while we’re trading on the streets of Cambridge
Creating engaging content for Facebook, Instagram and TikTok
Editing and scheduling posts
Producing reels, stories and behind-the-scenes content
Helping showcase our 40th Anniversary celebrations
Engaging with customers to capture authentic moments
Working independently to deliver agreed marketing objectives
Bringing fresh ideas to increase engagement and grow our online community

We’re looking for someone who…

Has experience creating content for social media
Is confident filming and photographing in public
Can edit videos to a high standard using their own editing software
Is self-motivated and able to work independently
Has excellent organisational skills
Understands current social media trends
Enjoys interacting with people
Can think creatively and isn’t afraid to suggest new ideas
Takes pride in producing high-quality content

Essential

Own editing software
Smartphone capable of creating high-quality content (an iPhone is preferred as we already have compatible stabilising equipment available)
Ability to work as a self-employed freelancer
Reliable, enthusiastic and professional

Bonus if you have…

Experience with PR or local media
Photography or videography experience
Experience growing social media accounts
Knowledge of paid social advertising
Previous work with hospitality or retail brands
