The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day running of our signage production department, ensuring jobs are completed on time, to a high standard and in line with customer specifications.
You will be responsible for supervising the production team across the manufacturing process, coordinating workloads, monitoring quality and ensuring all health & safety procedures are followed.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with previous experience in sign manufacturing, fabrication, print, graphics, CNC, vinyl application, assembly or a similar production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the signage production team.
- Plan and allocate production work according to deadlines and priorities.
- Ensure signage projects are completed on time and to the required specification.
- Read and understand production drawings, artwork and job specifications.
- Monitor the quality of finished signage and ensure work meets company standards.
- Oversee processes including fabrication, assembly, printing, vinyl application, finishing and installation preparation.
- Work closely with the design, sales and installation teams to ensure jobs move smoothly through production.
- Identify and resolve production issues quickly and efficiently.
- Ensure materials, equipment and staff are available to meet production requirements.
- Monitor stock levels and report material requirements to management.
- Carry out quality checks throughout the production process.
- Ensure machinery, tools and production areas are maintained and used safely.
- Promote and maintain high standards of health & safety within the workshop.
- Manage and support production staff, including training and development.
- Monitor attendance, timekeeping and performance.
- Help improve production processes, reduce waste and increase efficiency.
- Ensure completed jobs are correctly prepared, packaged and ready for collection or installation.
- Complete relevant production paperwork and job records.
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, practical and confident leading a team.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience in a signage, graphics, manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Previous experience supervising or leading a production team.
- Knowledge of signage manufacturing processes and materials.
- Good understanding of production drawings and job specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong eye for quality.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
- A proactive, hands-on approach to work.
- Good understanding of workshop health & safety.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Experience with CNC machinery, laser cutting, vinyl cutting, wide-format printing, LED signage, fabrication or installation preparation would be an advantage.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment with leadership responsibilities
- Strong understanding of production processes, safety regulations, and quality assurance standards
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and lead diverse teams
- Ability to analyze operational data and implement process improvements proactively
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a focus on safety, efficiency, and team development
- Prior experience with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement initiatives is a plus
