We are seeking an energetic and passionate Comics & Gaming Store Manager to lead our vibrant retail environment dedicated to comic books, tabletop games, trading cards games, and related merchandise. In this role, you'll oversee daily store operations, foster a welcoming atmosphere for enthusiasts and newcomers alike, and drive sales growth through exceptional team leadership. Your enthusiasm for pop culture, combined with strong management skills, will inspire your team to deliver outstanding customer experiences and maintain a dynamic, organized store that celebrates all things comics and gaming. This is an almost vocational role and your passion for reading comics or playing any number of tcg will be a necessity to survive. The service we provide customers is unique and exceptional. Without knowledge and passion this is not the job for such an individual.
Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate a diverse small team, ensuring high levels of engagement, performance, and customer service excellence
- Manage daily store operations including inventory control, merchandising, sales tracking, and ensuring compliance with company policies
- Develop and implement strategies to increase sales, improve customer satisfaction, and promote new product launches or events
- Oversee merchandising displays to create visually appealing environments that highlight featured products and themed promotions
- Supervise stock replenishment, product ordering, and inventory management to maintain optimal stock levels
- Cultivate a friendly atmosphere by engaging with customers, providing expert advice on comics and gaming products, and resolving any issues promptly
- Coordinate the Organised Play programme for the store. You must be a proficient tcg player and will ensure all franchises are scheduled, promoted, planned and executed within the deadlines stipulated by the OP providers
- Oversee all social media activity ensuring regular posts for events, new products and general trends are implemented.
Skills
- Strong management background with experience supervising retail teams in a fast-paced environment - ESSENTIAL
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven leadership qualities with the ability to motivate staff and foster teamwork
- Skilled in merchandising techniques to optimize product presentation and store layout
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in inventory control and administrative tasks
- Effective time management skills to prioritize responsibilities efficiently during busy periods
- Knowledge of the comics and gaming industry trends, products, and community culture is mandatory
- Demonstrated ability to handle customer inquiries professionally via social media, email or in person with excellent spoken etiquette

This role requires full availability and flexibility. We open 7 days a week and run gaming nights 2 nights a week. The rota changes weekly due to the demands and nature of deliveries and events we run. The role is 35hrs per week and includes all Bank Holidays. We close New Years Day, Easter Sunday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Pay: £27,000.00 per year
