Overview of the Role
We are seeking an experienced Bench Joiner / Assembler to join our workshop team. This is a hands-on role within a busy workshop environment, focused on producing high-quality, precision joinery.
The role involves the assembly and finishing of timber staircases, windows, doors, and bespoke joinery products. The successful candidate will be confident working from technical drawings and take pride in delivering work to a consistently high standard, with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and finish.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble timber components for bespoke staircases, doors, and windows and other bespoke joinery products
- Fitting components including seals, ironmongery and glazing elements
- Sanding, masking and preparing items for finishing
- Work independently from technical drawings and specification job sheets
- Carrying out quality checks throughout the production process and ensure products are finished to a high standard.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment, following health and safety regulations at all times
- Working efficiently to meet production deadlines
- Support apprentice joiners with day-to-day tasks (when required)
- Assist with the installation of joinery products in residential and commercial properties
- Supporting other areas of the workshop as and when required
Skills and Qualities
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills and confident spoken English
- Reliable, punctual and self-motivated
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high standards
- Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to the team
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in bench joinery or a similar role
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent) required
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Competent in the use of hand and power tools
This role would suit a time-served joiner with solid workshop experience.
What We Offer
- Pay: £15.00 to £20 per hour depending on experience and skill level (Self-employed)
- Expected hours: 40 per week
