We are looking for an experienced Ocean Export Coordinator to join our Bristol-based operations team.
This role is ideally suited to someone with a background in ocean freight forwarding, export shipping, international logistics or international removals who enjoys managing shipments from booking through to final delivery while providing a high level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage ocean export shipments from booking through to destination delivery
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout their move
- Liaise with shipping lines, NVOCCs and overseas partners to secure bookings and manage shipment schedules
- Prepare and issue shipping instructions and Bill of Lading instructions
- Assist with export customs declarations using HMRC CDS, with training provided where required
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively communicate updates to customers
- Coordinate with overseas agents regarding customs clearance and final delivery arrangements
- Produce customer invoices using internal systems
- Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation within company software
- Resolve operational issues quickly and professionally to minimise disruption to customers
About You
We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and bring practical export shipping, freight forwarding or international logistics experience to our team.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in ocean freight forwarding, export shipping, logistics or international removals
- Strong understanding of ocean export procedures and shipping documentation
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team
Desirable Experience
- Experience preparing Bills of Lading and shipping instructions
- Experience liaising with shipping lines, NVOCCs and overseas agents
- Experience coordinating FCL and LCL shipments
- Knowledge of customs procedures or HMRC CDS would be beneficial, although training can be provided
- Experience handling household goods or international removals shipments is advantageous but not essential
