Job Description
We have a 25m newbuild private M/Y looking for a Captain to join the owner around the middle of June in the UK.
This will be a permanent contract and you will be paid all year around. This is likely to be a 2 year contract due to the fact that the yacht owner wishes to hire a Captain to manage the yacht but also teach the owner to drive the yacht so that in 2 years’ time the owner can confidentially take command of his yacht and take it further afield.
The yacht is being delivered in June and should be operational by the end of June. The owner wishes to cruise around the UK for the 2026 summer. She will be based in Southampton for the winter months and will need to be ready for a 2027 summer season, most likely cruising the Western Med.
As you will be cruising initially around in UK waters you will need to hold your Yachtmaster Offshore license as a minimum and ideally have some form of powerboat or sail instructor experience.
You will not be required to live aboard the yacht during the winter months and candidates based around the Southampton/Portsmouth/Isle of Wight area will be preferred due to ease of travel to and from the yacht. During the summer months, the yacht will be busy cruising so you will be required to be away from home for lengthy periods of time. The plan is to cruise for circa 6-8 weeks this summer around the UK. The owner may wish to use the boat every now and then during the winter months on the rare occasion there is a sunny day in the UK!
The owner is open to couples for this position. If not in a couple, the owner is willing to hire temporary crew to assist with trips.
The owner currently owns a smaller boat and has some generic boating experience. That being said, he is wanting to hire a captain who will be willing to teach and train the owner how to safely command the vessel. The owner is heavily invested into this yacht and committed to spending a great deal of time being taught the correct ways. He has spent a fair amount on upgrades and extras on this boat and it’s running with some stake of the art kit on board.
The owner is incredibly personable and is wanting to find a captain (or couple) who will help to create a family style environment on board.
The salary and leave for this position are dependent on experience and negotiable with the owner. He is more focussed on finding the right synergy with a captain (or couple).
If you are local to the area and are looking for a unique captains position with a great work/life balance then do not hesitate in sending across your latest CV to Max Lee ([email protected]). Further details of the position will be discussed over the phone.
Pay: £4,000.00-£5,500.00 per month
Work Location: In person
