Are you looking for opportunities to develop your career in a MHST service and advance your career in providing clinical supervision and interventions to our service users?

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic clinician/supervisor with a background in child and adolescent mental health to join our multi-disciplinary Mental Health Support Team (MHST). This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of early intervention mental health services for children and young people aged 5–18 across educational settings in Westminster and RBKC. You will provide clinical supervision and case management to Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) and other team members delivering evidence-based interventions, while also managing a small caseload of children and young people presenting with mild to moderate emotional and mental health difficulties. Working collaboratively with families, schools, CAMHS and local authority partners, you will use your clinical expertise, CBT skills and knowledge of the CYP-IAPT framework to improve outcomes for children and young people.

We are keen to hear from candidates who have substantial experience working with children, young people and families with mental health needs, along with previous experience providing supervision within a multi-disciplinary mental health team. You will have a strong understanding of child development, psychosocial influences, safeguarding and clinical risk assessment, as well as knowledge of evidence-informed interventions for anxiety, low mood, self-harm and behavioural difficulties.

You will:

You will be responsible for managing and providing clinical supervision to a number of other team members, e.g. the Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs). They are delivering group and individual low intensity evidence-based interventions to children and young people. You will also work closely with families, as well as colleagues and partners in the Local Authority, CAMHS, educational settings where interventions are being delivered.
You will also work with a small caseload of children and adolescents with mild – moderate emotional and mental health difficulties and will use your trained modality and CBT, employing the principles underpinning the national CYP-IAPT programme (Children and Young People’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies).

You have:

Previous experience of supervising staff
Substantial experience working with children and families with mental health needs (i.e. not just working with adults)
Good CBT skills
Knowledge of evidence informed interventions for low mood, self-harm, anxiety and common behaviour problems in young children.
Enthusiasm for and knowledge of the use of outcomes measures/feedback and outcomes tools on a session-by-session basis and how to use in supervision
Experience of clinical risk assessment
Understanding of child development and psychosocial influences
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary mental health team
Experience providing supervision and case management
Highly developed knowledge of child and adult safeguarding
Experience consulting a range of stakeholders (young people, families, mental health and education professionals etc.)
