Main purpose of job: As a Fine Art Warehouse Technician at Dietl, you will play a key role in safeguarding and managing valuable artworks within our state-of-the-art storage facility. The role involves the careful handling, packing and preparation of a wide range of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, antiquities, textiles and contemporary installations, ensuring they are stored, documented and transported to the highest professional standards.
You will be responsible for accurately recording artwork details within our inventory management system, completing detailed condition reports, and supporting goods-in and goods-out processes. Working closely with colleagues across operations and logistics, you will help ensure artworks are handled with exceptional care and precision throughout their time in our custody.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely handle, move and prepare artworks within the warehouse in accordance with established art handling protocols and best practice.
- Manage incoming and outgoing shipments, including unpacking, packing and crating artworks for secure storage or transportation.
- Complete detailed condition reports on artworks upon arrival, storage and release, applying appropriate care and preservation techniques.
- Maintain an organised, secure and efficient warehouse environment, ensuring artworks are stored appropriately and equipment is used safely.
- Accurately update artwork records and locations within the inventory management system.
- Support goods-in and goods-out processes to ensure efficient workflow and traceability of all artworks.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the logistics and operations teams to ensure the successful delivery of art storage and handling projects.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as a Fine Art Technician, Art Handler, Warehouse Technician, or in a similar role within a fine art storage, logistics, gallery or museum environment.
- Experience handling a variety of art media, including paintings, sculptures, antiques and contemporary artworks.
- Strong attention to detail and a careful, methodical approach to artwork handling and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Good physical fitness and the ability to lift and move artworks safely, including working in varying environments such as confined spaces or at height.
