Overview
We are seeking a hardworking Assistant Groundsperson to support our polo landscaping and grounds maintenance members. This role involves assisting in maintaining the polo grounds, agricultural land, landscaped areas and general presentation of the estate. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in horticulture, gardening, and sports turf-related tasks, with a proactive attitude towards learning new skills. This paid position offers valuable hands-on experience in landscape maintenance and groundskeeping operations.
Responsibilities
Grounds & Polo Pitch Maintenance
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of polo grounds and playing surfaces.
- Carry out mowing, strimming and general turf maintenance.
- Assist with field marking and event preparation.
- Maintain lawns, paddocks and landscaped areas to a high standard
Agricultural Support
- Assist with tractor operations and agricultural machinery.
- Support grassland and paddock maintenance.
- Assist with seasonal agricultural activities and estate projects.
- Carry out machinery cleaning and routine maintenance.
Irrigation Support
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems.
- Monitor system performance and report faults.
- Support seasonal servicing and repairs.
Estate Maintenance
- Carry out fencing repairs and general estate upkeep.
- Assist with hedge cutting, pruning and vegetation management.
- Support maintenance of estate roads, tracks and infrastructure.
- Maintain tidy and organised workshops, stores and machinery areas.
Experience
- Prior experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, or horticulture is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided.
- Basic mechanical knowledge related to power tools and equipment operation is desirable.
- Familiarity with construction or outdoor maintenance work will be beneficial.
- Hands-on experience with irrigation systems or excavators is a plus but not mandatory.
- A proactive approach to learning new skills in groundskeeping and outdoor maintenance is essential. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about outdoor environments.
