Starting Salary for a 40 hour week £20,484.60 per annum, which is £18,278.40 salary plus £2,206.20 holiday pay Fixed Term 1 September 2026 to 11 December 2026 | Full Time or Job Share| Term-Time

We have an opportunity for a suitably experienced Receptionist with proven administrative skills to join our friendly team.

Felsted is a leading day and boarding independent school based in a stunning village campus in North Essex. Founded in 1564 by Richard Lord Riche, who had been a Lord Chancellor under King Edward VI, Felsted today provides an exceptional holistic education to approximately 1000 boys and girls aged three to eighteen. We celebrated our 450th anniversary in 2014, one of only a handful of schools in the country that have claimed this historic milestone. We employ more than 600 staff in a community orientated environment, ensuring our pupils receive the very best in learning and co-curricular activities.

The post holder is the initial point of contact at the Senior School and provides a friendly and professional welcome to parents and visitors, dealing efficiently and promptly with all enquiries and providing administrative support.

The main duties of the role are to be ‘front of house’ to all those who visit or contact the Senior School, providing an excellent first impression for every visitor or enquiry. The role also involves liaising with different departments within the School, and liaising with parents on important matters. It is essential that the successful person has good communication and ICT skills, a positive ‘can do’ attitude towards providing excellent customer service and working with young people, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. It is vital that you are able to work both under your own initiative and as part of a team, and have excellent attention to detail.

This role is a fixed term position 1 September 2026 to 11 December 2026 working up to 40 hours per week during term-time (34 weeks per year). During term-time, the working pattern will be 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday.

Starting salary for this role will be £13.44 per hour plus £1.63 per hour holiday pay. Actual annual salary for 40 hours per week over 34 weeks is £18,278.40 salary plus £2,206.20 holiday pay, which in total is £20,484.60.
