We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at De Montfort Veterinary Hospital on a full-time basis.
De Montfort Veterinary Hospital is a supportive and busy practice where our nursing team plays a vital role in delivering high standards of patient and client care. This is a varied opportunity for an RVN who enjoys being involved across all areas of the clinical day, including inpatient care, theatre, admissions, nurse consultations and patient monitoring.
You’ll be joining a collaborative team with a strong focus on clinical standards, teamwork and patient wellbeing. As a nurse training practice, we are also passionate about supporting the development of future veterinary nurses, with opportunities to contribute to student support, supervision and mentoring.
Practice Highlights
- Varied nursing role across inpatient care, theatre, admissions and nurse consultations
- Opportunity to support surgical workflow, including IV catheter placement, pre-operative blood tests and patient monitoring
- Nurse-led services including Safari consultations and wellness screens
- Nurse training practice supporting apprentice nurses and degree-placement students
- Encouragement and support to carry out Schedule 3 procedures
As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.
You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.
Working Pattern
- Full-time role with early and late shifts on a rota basis - 8am-4:30pm, 10am-7pm and 11:30am-7:30pm
- 1 in 3 Saturday mornings 8am-1pm
- No out-of-hours requirements
General Responsibilities
- Deliver high standards of nursing care across a varied first opinion caseload
- Support inpatient care, including patient monitoring and recovery
- Assist with admissions, IV catheter placement and pre-operative blood tests
- Support surgical procedures, including anaesthesia monitoring and theatre nursing
We’re looking for a confident and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse who enjoys working as part of a team and delivering high standards of care. You’ll bring:
- Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
- Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
- A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
