Archway Facilities are looking for an Area Manager to oversee the cleaning operations across a designated portfolio of our client sites. The role ensures that all contractual obligations are delivered in line with company standards, while maintaining strong client relationships and effective staff management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Management
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day cleaning operations across allocated sites.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure service quality.
- Ensure all cleaning work is delivered to agreed specifications and standards.
- Organise cover for staff absences, holidays, and emergencies.
2. Staff Supervision & Development
- Line-manage cleaning operatives, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
- Prepare and manage staff rotas to ensure contractual hours are met.
- Deliver induction and on-the-job training for staff in cleaning methods, use of equipment, and company procedures.
- Support the People & HR Manager with performance or conduct matters by providing factual information and being consulted as required; escalate issues promptly in line with company policy.
- Support the People & HR Manager by providing information as requested during the recruitment and onboarding of new starters; right to work checks and employment contracts are owned by the HR function.
3. Client & Stakeholder Relations
- Act as first point of contact for clients within allocated sites.
- Ensure client requests and complaints are handled promptly and professionally.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with site contacts.
4. Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all staff adhere to Health & Safety requirements, including safe use of equipment, PPE, and cleaning chemicals (COSHH).
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure method statements are followed.
- Report and record accidents, incidents, and near-misses in accordance with company procedures.
- Respond to out-of-hours and emergency site issues, acting as an on-call point of contact to maintain service continuity.
- Support the welfare and wellbeing of staff within your area, escalating concerns to the People & HR Manager as appropriate.
5. Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate staff attendance, payroll, and timesheet records.
- Monitor and order cleaning supplies and consumables within budget.
- Complete site visit reports and submit to Area Manager as required.
- Assist in the mobilisation of new contracts where applicable.
- Submit accurate attendance, absence, and cover data to the Finance & Payroll team within agreed deadlines to support payroll processing.
6. Compliance & Ethical Standards
- Handle all staff and client data in line with GDPR and the company’s data protection policy, ensuring personal information is kept confidential and stored securely.
- Remain vigilant for and report any concerns relating to modern slavery, exploitation, or unethical working practices in line with the company’s Modern Slavery and Ethical Trading policy.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Compliance with cleaning specifications and contractual obligations.
- Client satisfaction scores / retention.
- Staff retention and attendance levels.
- Completion and accuracy of site inspections and audits.
- Compliance with Health & Safety standards.
Person Specification
Essential
- Previous supervisory experience within cleaning, facilities, or related sector.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across designated sites.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements, including COSHH.
Desirable
- Experience in multi-site management.
- NVQ or equivalent in Cleaning & Support Services.
- First Aid and/or Health & Safety certification.
- Experience with cleaning management software.
Working Conditions
- Office-based, requiring travel across designated area.
- Flexible working hours, including some evenings and weekends, to meet operational needs.
- Company vehicle or milage allowance and mobile phone provided (where applicable).
Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
