We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and locally rooted Reporter to join our fast-growing news site, Exeter Today, part of the expanding Clear Sky Publishing group in Devon.
The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, writing, and editing news stories across various platforms, including digital and social media, with a primary focus on capturing the pulse of the Exeter patch.

A strong command of visual storytelling tools and bilingual abilities are highly desirable to enhance content reach and impact.
Responsibilities
- Local Reporting: Research and develop hyper-local news stories by gathering information from credible sources across Exeter and the wider Devon patch.
- Platform Copywriting: Write clear, accurate, and engaging articles tailored to different audiences and platforms, optimised to drive online views and digital engagement.
- Video Production: Edit video content using editing software to produce high-impact multimedia stories and short-form social video.
- Social Media Management: Manage local social media accounts by posting real-time updates, engaging with followers, and analysing engagement metrics to grow our digital footprint.
- Ethics & Standards: Ensure all content adheres to journalistic ethics, media law, and organisational standards of integrity and impartiality.
Skills & Requirements
- Driving Licence (Essential): Must possess a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle to ensure rapid on-the-ground coverage across the patch.
- Local Knowledge: A deep understanding of Exeter, its communities, geography, and local talking points.
- Visual Storytelling: Strong video editing skills with the ability to craft compelling visual stories using a smartphone or camera equipment.
- Journalism Principles: Solid understanding of journalism principles, media law, ethics, and standards (NCTJ qualification or equivalent newsroom experience preferred).
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly under tight deadlines.
- Social Media Insight: Experience in social media management with an understanding of platform algorithms and audience engagement strategies.
- Organisation: Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple breaking news stories and features under tight deadline pressures.

Pay: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
