Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced diesel engineer to join our small team based in Teignmouth, Devon. We have 2 main types of work that we undertake - Marine based engine work and Diesel Engine powered Generators. Please look at our website www.gemservicesltd.co.uk for more details.

Our engineers are responsible for the service, maintenance, repairs and upkeep of Diesel engine generators. We also service, repair, install and overhaul marine engines.

The ability to learn easily is a must. We do not expect the right candidate to know everything about the work that we complete but they must be able to demonstrate the desire and ability to learn - and maintain the knowledge of how and what resolved the issue. Very experienced engineers are here to help with any learning that is required.

We offer 31 days Annual Holiday Entitlement (which equals 4 full weeks, all bank holidays and we are closed for the week of Christmas). We will provide a company van and tools, mobile phone (or payment towards your own mobile), parking permit and NEST pension.

Business hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm with 1 hour unpaid break for lunch.Overtime is paid as and when worked, with time and a half (Saturdays) and double time (Sundays) being paid if you ever need to be available (this is not a regular requirement).

You must be keen to learn any areas that you do not already have experience in, be a good communicator and have good written English to complete the job cards clearly and accurately for customers. Attention to detail is essential. You must be able demonstrate a clear understanding about Diesel engines and electrical knowledge of the control panels and workings of alternators, and be able to service them thoroughly. Fabrication experience would be an advantage.
