Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a friendly and organised Receptionist/Optical Assistant to join our professional team. This role involves ensuring the smooth operation of our practice while delivering excellent customer service to our lovely clients.

The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a genuine interest in healthcare and optics. Previous retail or hospitality experience preferred but not essential; formal training will be provided to develop optical-specific skills. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive environment, with the potential for further career development for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere
Manage appointment scheduling and patient enquiries efficiently, both in person and over the phone
Assist with optical assessments and measurements under supervision, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
Support optical procedures, including lens fitting and adjustments
Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with data protection regulations
Support stock management by organising supplies and materials
Provide information to patients regarding products and services offered by the practice

Skills

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating professionalism at all times
Retail or hospitality experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for all technical tasks
Willingness to learn is essential
Ability to work well as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative when required
IT literacy, including proficiency in using software such as Microsoft Office or similar programmes
