Job Description
This position's primary role is to serve as an expert inspector for complex construction projects, with a specialized focus on hazardous environments involving explosives.
Core Responsibilities:
· Complex Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of challenging construction projects, including sophisticated mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems within explosives-rated facilities that store munitions and aircraft.
· Regulatory Compliance: Perform regular evaluations to ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and standards for weapons and explosives safety.
· Technical Consultation: Act as a technical advisor to the contracting office and engineering flight, providing expert guidance on project requirements.
· Equipment & Materials: Inspect materials, equipment, and specialized systems, such as lightning protection, to ensure they meet operational and safety standards.
· Reporting: Compile detailed written reports based on inspection findings and the interpretation of applicable policies and regulations.
Qualifications and Key skills
· City and Guilds/ NVQ Level 3 - Award in Electrical Installations BS 7671 (18th Edition) – Training can be provided by the organization
· City and Guilds/ NVQ Level 3 - EAL Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations or City and Guilds/ NVQ Level 3 - 2391-52
· A valid UK CAT B driving license
This position requires a comprehensive understanding of construction inspection practices and safety procedures, specifically concerning building materials, workmanship, utilities, and system installations. The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of the electrical, mechanical, and structural aspects of major construction projects, alongside the practical application of engineering and architectural principles to interpret complex plans and specifications. Grounded in a strong foundation of construction trades, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, this role demands both the technical capability to troubleshoot complex electrical deficiencies and the communication skills necessary to collaborate effectively, both orally and in writing.

1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. This position may also be coded as mission essential.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies. Overtime may be required and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. May be required to perform extended hours, on-call, shift work, working weekends, and overtime depending on the mission requirements and management discretion.
5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
6. Employees must obtain CompEx 01-04 and Ammo-47 Air Force Electrical Explosive Safety certifications within 12 months of employment, if not already certified. Failure due to employee negligence will result in termination. Management will set a new timeframe if delays are beyond the employee's control. (CompEx certification according to JSP 482 Explosive Safety).
