Full job description

As a family business we are one of the leading privately-owned palletised transport organisations in the UK. Established in 1979 we operate across 11 sites in England and Scotland with over 480 employees and 220 vehicles. They offer a wide range of delivery solutions to many satisfied customers while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professional conduct.

An opportunity has arisen for a Depot General Manager at our Falkirk depot Monday to Friday 08.00 – 18.00

The role

Reporting directly to the Regional Operations Manager, as the Depot Manager you will be responsible for managing all aspects of our transport operation within the Falkirk region, currently including 26-30 drivers and a team of office and warehouse staff.

Your key duties will include:

Collecting information and enforcing best practice to achieve KPI’s and maximize all resources to deliver the most cost-effective solution, setting monthly budgets and exercising budget control.
Working with the management team to improve site performance through effective planning and people management.
Ensuring all excellent standards are achieved regarding Operator’s license compliance, EC & UK regulations, H&S, employment law, driver’s hours and tachograph legislation.
The Falkirk depot is a full member of the Palletforce pallet network, and the Depot General Manager will also be our Palletforce Depot Principal, dealing with any high-level matters, service performance and ensuring that the depot complies with all the back-office processes that are required.
Through careful and effective planning, you will constantly strive to deliver excellent performance in the most cost-efficient manner possible.
Play an integral part of delivering the planned growth of the depot.
Achieving compliance with internal company procedures.

What you’ll need

· Proven track record of supervisory /management experience in a Transport or Distribution role within a fast-paced environment.

Excellent people management and leadership skills
National CPC Qualification
Demonstrable knowledge of relevant transport legislation, including digital tachographs and Working Time Directive (WTD).
Excellent communication.
Possess a ‘can do’ customer centric approach.
TMS System experience such as Manpack3 or similar
Strong Excel & general IT capabilities
You will need to be an energetic, target focused individual with a passion to succeed and a willingness to progress within the role.
ADR & IOSH Certification preferred (although funded training to upskill available)
Right to work in the UK.
