At Spades Gardens, we believe gardens should be beautiful, sustainable , and full of wildlife.
We specialize in gardening for biodiversity, working with nature rather than against it , helping gardens become healthier ecosystems through thoughtful management. This means improving soil health, supporting pollinators and birds, leaning towards methods of permaculture, and cultivating native habitats.
Every garden is different, and we enjoy finding creative solutions that balance our clients' needs with the needs of the wildlife that shares their space.
Duties
- Use hand tools, power tools, to carry out gardening tasks tasks
- Plant identification and plant health tasks
- Implement maintenance activities such as: mowing, strimming, mulching and composting, aerating, weed control, planting , pruning, seed sowing, pond care and some occasional landscaping.
- Assist with planting new flora, shrubs, trees
- Manage irrigation systems to ensure optimal watering schedules
- Conduct routine garden visits that aim to do things at the right time of year
- Ensure all equipment is maintained in good working order and used safely at all times
- Have a encouraging relationship with clients regarding garden care
- Have a creative and susutainly focused mind set
- Abaility to time manage and complete activities in good time
Requirements
- Experience in gardening, horticulture or landscape maintenance with an understanding of plant care and gardening principles
- Proficiency in using hand tools (e.g., secateurs, spades), power tools (e.g., lawnmowers, hedge trimmers), and planting
- Growing experience with knowledge of plant species and permaculture as well as soil health and composting.
- Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Physical fitness to perform outdoor work in varying weather conditions and lift equipment or materials as required
- A valid driver’s licence is preferred for transporting equipment between sites
This position is ideal for individuals passionate about gardening and Wildlife who enjoy working outdoors in all weathers and delivering high-quality garden care. Applicants should be organised, reliable, and committed to maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces for clients.
The aim for this individual is to eventually be able to perform garden visits and mainatainance in a sustainable way, independently.
To have their own relationship with clients that breeds curiosity and engagement in the garden. Creating a heaven for clients to enjoy and interact with their gardens and the wildlife within. There is much to learn in this field so a genuine passion for the practice is essential.
Pay: From £15.00 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Falmouth, Cornwall: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
