The Role
As a Senior Systems Engineer (Tech Lead), you will provide technical leadership and deliver systems engineering solutions that support the development and integration of complex, software-enabled systems for live operational environments, including BUTEC. Day-to-day, you’ll work across the full systems lifecycle, engaging with stakeholders to capture requirements, define system architectures, and lead integration and test activities, while collaborating closely with software, hardware, and project teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
Owning and managing the integration of software, hardware and firmware across complex systems
Leading systems engineering activities across requirements, architecture, integration and test
Acting as a technical bridge between engineering, software, integration and project teams
Engaging with operational stakeholders to capture and manage system requirements
Providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers
Producing and maintaining high-quality systems engineering documentation
Essential experience of the Senior Systems Engineer (Tech Lead):
Strong generalist systems engineering experience across multiple projects
Requirements engineering and management
System architecture and design
Experience working with software engineering teams
Systems engineering best practice aligned with ISO 15288
Essential qualifications for the Senior Systems Engineer (Tech Lead):
Degree or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering or a related engineering discipline
Experience working in a regulated or safety-critical engineering environment

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Malvern, Farnborough or Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP) sites with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
