Job description - the role

On Behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Environmental Consultant - Waste Management for a 6 month contract based in London

Candidate Profile: Key accountabilities, skills & experience

Honours and master’s degree in a relevant subject such as environmental/civil engineering, chemical engineering, environmental sciences or similar.
Good knowledge of UK and EU resources and waste policy and legislation, including circular economy principles.
Strong technical and financial knowledge and experience of waste storage, collection, transport and treatment technologies (WTS, MRF, MBT, IVC, AD, WtE, pyrolysis and gasification etc).
Experience in developing resource and waste management strategies for local authorities and/or new development projects, including knowledge of life-cycle assessment tools (e.g. WRATE).
Good experience of waste auditing and preparation of environmental impact assessment of major development schemes.

What you’ll do:

Develop and deliver resource and waste management strategies for major developments across London, the UK, and globally.
Prepare waste-related Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Construction Waste Management Plans, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards, while identifying opportunities to maximise resource efficiency and minimise waste.
Undertake and oversee technical work, providing guidance and quality assurance across project deliverables.
Manage specialist and multi-disciplinary project teams to ensure successful and timely project delivery.
Maintain accountability for project quality and budget control, ensuring outputs meet both client and regulatory expectations.
Act as a key point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and managing communications throughout project lifecycles.
Lead proposal development from inception through to completion, including coordinating inputs and preparing high-quality submissions.

The skills you’ll need:
