Full job description

R. Plevin & Sons Ltd have an exciting opportunity for a Yard Operative to join our busy team based at our Elkesley site. Working on a full time, permanent basis to which you will receive a competitive salary.

Hours of Work:
4 on 4 off shift pattern, 06:00-18:00 hours (average 40.25 hours per week)
Please note: This shift pattern does include some weekend working.

R. Plevin & Sons is one of the UK market leaders in wood recycling and a manufacturer of animal bedding. This role is based in our wood recycling yard.

As our Yard Operative/Chargehand your duties will include:

Full adherence to health and safety procedures and to site rules
Checking incoming loads of wood material to ensure loads are correct to specification, reporting any contaminants in the loads.
Manual sorting of pre-crushed wood to remove contaminants prior to processing.
Operating shredder machines.
Guiding vehicles to load and unload safely.
Maintaining housekeeping around the site to a high standard.

Please note that there will be some manual handling involved in this role.

Key skills and experience:

Previous experience of operating a FLT is desirable, along with a valid FLT licence
Experience of operating a teletruk and a valid teletruk licence is desirable. (teletruk conversion training can be provided to suitable FLT licence holders)
Self motivated
Comfortable working outdoors in all weathers

Full training will be given to suitable candidates.

The benefits:

Initial rate £13.91 per hour
After successful completion of a probationary period, an increase in rate to £14.42 per hour
