Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Electrician with a focus on solar energy systems to join our dynamic team in Kent. Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, and maintain electrical systems for residential, commercial, and solar energy projects in accordance with safety standards and regulations
- Use hand tools and power tools to assemble, wire, and troubleshoot electrical components and solar panel systems
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to ensure precise installation and repairs
- Conduct safety checks throughout all phases of installation and maintenance work, adhering strictly to electrical codes and safety protocols
- Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and clients to deliver timely project completion while maintaining quality standards
- Diagnose electrical issues efficiently using appropriate testing equipment; perform repairs or replacements as needed
- Keep detailed records of work performed, materials used, and compliance documentation for each project
Requirements
- Proven electrical experience with a strong understanding of electrical systems and wiring techniques
- Hands-on experience working with hand tools and power tools essential for installation and troubleshooting tasks
- Knowledge of solar energy systems including photovoltaic (PV) panels is highly desirable
- Ability to read technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics accurately
- Valid electrician’s license or certification as required by local regulations in Kent or surrounding areas
- Strong commitment to safety procedures and adherence to electrical codes
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting
- Level 2 & 3 Electrical Diplomas: Normally City & Guilds Electrotechnical Technology which:
- Provides foundational classroom theory and basic workshop skills.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671): Proves knowledge of the current safety standards for electrical installations in the UK.
- Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installations: A work-based portfolio proving on-site competence.
- AM2 / AM2E Practical Assessment: A rigorous timed test at an independent center to show you can work safely without help.
- We want to know how you have gained the qualifications:
- Electrotechnical Apprenticeship?(Combines paid on-the-job training with college study over 3 to 4 years, covering all required elements.)
- College + NVQ Route? ( Studying diplomas full-time at a further education college, then finding site work as an electrical mate to finish the NVQ and AM2.)
- Experienced Worker Route? (For people with 5+ years of verifiable trade experience who take a streamlined assessment and the 18th Edition test.)
- We then ideally want about 3-5 years post qualification experience in both domestic and commercial work.
- Additional qualifications:
- C&G 2391 in Inspection & Testing or equivalent.
- Solar, Battery Storage and EV charger installation qualification.
