Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Commercial Administrator / Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management while gaining hands-on experience across a range of repairs, servicing, compliance, planned works and chargeable works contracts. Working closely with our commercial team, you will support the successful delivery of contracts through a combination of commercial analysis, contract administration and financial control.
The role will involve assisting with pricing, invoicing, client applications, cost management, reporting and commercial data analysis, helping to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and in line with contractual requirements. Key Responsibilities
Commercial Administration
- Assist in the preparation and submission of client applications and valuations.
- Support the processing and reconciliation of invoices.
- Monitor purchase orders and ensure works are correctly authorised.
- Maintain commercial records and contract documentation.
- Track approved, pending and disputed applications.
- Support the management of client rate schedules and SOR databases.
- Assist with subcontractor administration and records.
Quantity Surveying Support
- Assist in the preparation of quotations and estimates.
- Price works using client SOR schedules and agreed rates.
- Assist with cost capture and job profitability analysis.
- Monitor material, labour and subcontractor costs against budgets.
- Support monthly cost value reconciliations.
- Assist with variation identification and valuation.
- Support the preparation of tender submissions and pricing exercises.
Reporting and Analysis
- Produce weekly and monthly commercial reports.
- Analyse operational and financial performance data.
- Maintain contract P&L trackers.
- Assist in monitoring revenue, costs and margins.
- Track jobs awaiting purchase orders or client approval.
- Support forecasting and budget monitoring activities.
Client and Contract Support
- Act as a point of contact for commercial queries.
- Support contract mobilisation activities.
- Maintain accurate contract documentation.
- Assist with evidence management and audit preparation.
- Ensure client requirements are met regarding documentation and submissions.
Systems and Process Management
- Maintain commercial information within Joblogic and associated business systems.
- Support process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Assist with data validation and quality checks.
- Ensure records are accurate and auditable.
Key Performance Indicators
- Timely submission of client applications.
- Accuracy of commercial reporting.
- Margin tracking and cost visibility.
- Reduction in aged debt caused by application queries.
- Accurate maintenance of SOR schedules and rates.
- Timely processing of purchase orders and invoices.
- Compliance with commercial filing and audit requirements.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Desirable
- Experience within construction, maintenance, utilities or social housing.
- Previous commercial administration experience.
- Experience using Joblogic or similar field service software.
- Knowledge of NHF Schedule of Rates.
- Understanding of contract administration.
- Quantity Surveying qualification or studying towards one.
Qualifications
Essential
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above).
Desirable
- HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
- Degree or studying towards a Quantity Surveying qualification.
- Relevant construction or commercial administration qualification.
