Deputy Manager – Heatherside Rest Home
Location: Heatherside Rest Home
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: £16.60 per hour
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, with some on-call responsibilities

Join Our Team

Heatherside Rest Home is looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of our friendly residential care home.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior care professional who is passionate about delivering outstanding person-centred care and leading by example.

The role is a combination of office-based management duties and working on the floor alongside the care team, ensuring the highest standards of care are consistently maintained.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Registered Manager with the effective day-to-day operation of the home.
Lead, supervise and motivate the care team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
Complete and review person-centred care plans.
Undertake and regularly review risk assessments.
Liaise professionally with GPs, district nurses, community healthcare professionals and other multidisciplinary teams.
Order, monitor and manage residents' medication in line with policies and best practice.
Ensure accurate record keeping and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Support with audits, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
Assist with staff supervision, mentoring and training.
Participate in the home's on-call rota and respond appropriately to out-of-hours issues.
Maintain excellent communication with residents, relatives and external professionals.
Promote a positive, caring and supportive culture throughout the home.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will have:

Previous experience in a senior care role, such as Senior Carer, Team Leader or Deputy Manager.
A good understanding of person-centred care and current care legislation.
Experience writing and reviewing care plans and risk assessments.
Knowledge of medication management and administration.
Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Confidence liaising with healthcare professionals and families.
A calm and proactive approach to problem solving.

Essential:

NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care or willing to work towards
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous.

Desirable:

NVQ/QCF Level 5 in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
Previous experience in a residential care setting.
Knowledge of CQC standards and regulatory requirements.
