Job Title: Electrical Assembly Engineer

Location: Biggleswade, Onsite

Employment Type: Full Time Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (rotating shift pattern - see below), with additional hours during busier periods paid as overtime

Shift: Rotating Shifts Monday to Friday 2pm to 10pm / 7am to 4pm to suit business needs

Salary: £33,280 + shift allowance £3994 = £37,274 per annum

Our product range includes modular CCTV towers and wireless security bollards, powered by renewable energy and embedded AI, with over 2,000 units deployed since 2019 across construction, utilities, renewables, highways, and rail sites nationwide. Unlike traditional setups, Solo systems provide real-time detection and classification of people and vehicles, reducing the need for reactive, resource-heavy security methods, and are built for rapid deployment wherever they're needed. We manage every step in-house, ensuring agility, high-quality products, and complete reliability in the field.

The Role

This is a full-time, on-site role for an Electrical Assembly Engineer located in Biggleswade, with a strong focus on test and commissioning. You will be responsible for assembling mechanical and electronic components and electrical wiring, then testing and commissioning finished units to make sure every system leaves site fully functional and ready for deployment. Experience with cloud-connected or remote-monitoring systems would be ideal, given our towers are built around embedded AI and cloud-based detection technology.

Daily tasks include functional testing and commissioning of finished units, using hand tools to perform mechanical assembly, working with electronics manufacturing processes, and ensuring all products meet quality standards and specifications before dispatch.

Key Responsibilities:

Assemble CCTV systems, electronic enclosures, and tower components according to technical drawings and assembly instructions.
Test and commission CCTV towers and electronic assemblies, verifying functionality, connectivity, and performance against technical specifications before dispatch.
Carry out wiring, crimping, and electrical connections with attention to quality and safety.
Diagnose and troubleshoot faults using test equipment and, where applicable, cloud-based monitoring and diagnostic tools.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
Work collaboratively with engineers and technicians to improve assembly and testing efficiency and resolve technical issues.
Follow company procedures and contribute to continuous improvement in production processes.
Assist with stock handling, component preparation, and workshop organisation as required.

Essential Requirements:

Previous experience working in a workshop or factory environment, ideally including product testing or commissioning (electrical, mechanical, or assembly background preferred).
Good practical skills and attention to detail with the ability to follow detailed instructions
Ability to follow assembly instructions, wiring diagrams, and safety procedures.
Basic understanding of tools, electrical components, and mechanical fittings.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
Flexible and willing to work rotating shifts, including early (7am-4pm) and PM (2pm-10pm) shifts, as required by the business.

Desirable Skills (Training Provided):

Experience supervising a small team
Experience with CCTV systems, electronics, or electrical wiring.
Experience with cloud-connected, IoT, or remote-monitoring and diagnostic systems.
Use of Hand Tools, crimping tools, multimeters, and test equipment.
Familiarity with low-voltage systems and cable management.
Forklift, PAT testing, or workshop safety training (advantageous but not essential).
Knowledge of Electronics Manufacturing processes
