Full job description

A Level Mathematics Tutor – Canterbury

We are seeking an experienced and supportive A Level Mathematics tutor to provide face-to-face tuition to a 20-year-old student at his home in Canterbury.

The student is bright and academically capable, having previously been predicted an A grade. Due to health circumstances, he was unable to sit his examinations this year and is now looking for consistent, personalised support as he continues his studies.

He is autistic and can feel anxious when meeting new people, so the successful tutor will need to be patient, calm and able to build trust gradually.

Requirements:

Strong knowledge of the Edexcel A Level Mathematics syllabus
Substantial experience teaching Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Mechanics
Confidence preparing students for Edexcel examinations
Previous experience marking A Level examination papers would be particularly desirable
A patient, reassuring and adaptable approach
Experience supporting autistic or anxious learners would be beneficial
Willingness to deliver tuition face-to-face in the student’s Canterbury home
Appropriate qualifications and an enhanced DBS check

Lesson arrangements:

One hour per week during term time
Afternoons or early evenings
Face-to-face tuition in Canterbury
Start as soon as possible
Potential for ongoing, long-term work

This would suit an experienced A Level Mathematics teacher, former teacher, examiner or specialist tutor who can combine excellent subject knowledge with a sensitive and encouraging approach.

Pay: £30.00-£40.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
