About the Role: Sheffield has a rich heritage of precision craftsmanship, and at Axicut Precision Engineering Ltd, we carry that legacy forward into modern manufacturing. We produce high-precision components for demanding engineering sectors where exact tolerances are everything. We believe that heavy manufacturing software should be as smooth and efficient as the machines cutting the metal. We are looking for a CAD / CAM Drafter Programmer who can take full ownership of our component drafting and toolpath programming. You aren't just making drawings; you are driving the manufacturing process. You will work directly between client specifications and the workshop floor, turning complex engineering blueprints into flawless, production-ready CNC programs. You are the link that turns ideas into high-accuracy physical products.
Why Work With Us?
- The Environment: Our facility is based in Sheffield’s engineering heartland. We invest heavily in a clean, modern workshop equipped with high-spec CNC machinery and modern software.
- Engineering Standards: We don't need you to convince us that precision matters. Quality is central to everything we build, and your expertise directly shapes production success.
- Modern Tooling: We work with top-tier CAD / CAM platforms (e.g., SolidWorks, Edgecam, Mastercam). Our shop floor machinists run advanced multi-axis equipment, so we speak fluent manufacturing.
- Growth: We support continuous learning and professional development, ensuring your software and programming skills stay at the cutting edge of precision engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- 3D & 2D Drafting: Create accurate 3D CAD models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings from client specs, blueprints, or physical samples.
- CAM Programming & Toolpaths: Develop efficient multi-axis CNC programs, selecting optimal tooling, feeds, and speeds to maximize shop-floor throughput.
- Process Optimization: Refine existing programs and machining strategies to reduce cycle times, minimize tool wear, and prevent production bottlenecks.
- Shop-Floor Collaboration: Work closely with CNC machinists to test first-off parts, verify tolerances, and solve technical challenges on the floor.
- Design Standards & Archiving: Maintain rigorous control of drawing revisions, program files, and technical documentation to ensure full ISO-level traceability.
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience as a CAD / CAM Drafter, Programmer, or CNC Technician in precision engineering.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in modern CAD / CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam, Edgecam) and a deep understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Practical Knowledge: Practical understanding of multi-axis CNC milling/turning processes, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and material properties.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to liaise with client engineers, production managers, and machine operators.
- Mindset: A pragmatic problem-solver. You know how to balance strict engineering tolerances with real-world manufacturing efficiency.
Pay: £35,000.00-£45,782.50 per year

- Cycle to work scheme
- Flexitime
- Health & wellbeing programme
